Iryna is a multimedia journalist based in NYC who has reported from all five boroughs. She was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine and raised in Brooklyn.

Currently, she covers eastern Queens for QNS under Schneps Media. But she got her start covering the world’s borough at the Queens Ledger.

She received her Bachelors in Political Science from Stony Brook University with minors in Journalism and International Studies. During her time on Long Island, she found her footing in local print news as an intern for TBR News and a freelancer for the LI Herald.

Using her native language skills in Ukrainian and Russian, Iryna worked as a fact checker for the TikTok team at Lead Stories with a focus on combatting misinformation. As an intern at Storyful, through the Dow Jones News Fund, she verified footage from all over the world using open-source intelligence.

When she’s not reporting or reading the news (always) she likes to go on long bike rides and get to know the city’s extensive parks.
